Director of Finance – 5 Star Luxury Hotel Dublin

The Role:

Red D are recruiting a Director of Finance for a renowned 5 Star Luxury Hotel in Dublin. This leading hotel is known for its exceptional service, excellent accommodation, and world-class amenities. As the Director of Finance, you will be a strategic financial business leader, part of the executive committee, and a key driver in delivering products and services that exceed the expectations of guests and staff. You will provide financial expertise to implement the brand service strategy and initiatives, maximising the return on investment for the company. Your role will include creating and executing a business plan aligned with the hotel’s strategy, focusing on financial and accounting activities to achieve desirable financial results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership:
    • Develop and implement hotel-wide financial strategies that align with the brand’s business goals.
    • Provide financial expertise to support the successful implementation of brand initiatives.
    • Maximize return on investment through strategic planning and execution.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Analyse P&L statements, develop operating budgets, and prepare short and long-term forecasts.
    • Oversee purchasing, inventory controls, and supplies management.
    • Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage and lead a diverse finance team to provide strong functional expertise and effective financial leadership.
    • Foster a work environment that embraces the brand’s culture and ensures fair treatment and associate satisfaction.
  • Business and Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the annual business plan and operating budget.
    • Ensure accurate financial reporting, internal controls, and cash management.
    • Provide analytical decision support and tools to department heads.
  • Owner Relations:
    • Develop a trusting business partnership with property ownership.
    • Balance the interests of the owners and the company, creating solutions that meet expectations and add value.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Financial Management:
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to manage P&L statements and budgets.
    • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory controls, and hotel operations.
  • Leadership and Strategic Planning:
    • Ability to translate financial concepts into actionable business strategies.
    • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
    • Effective communication and influence skills.
  • Operational Expertise:
    • Knowledge of hotel laws, regulations, and safety standards.
    • Technological proficiency with standard software applications and hotel systems.


  • Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role within the hospitality industry.
  • Leadership Competencies: Ability to lead and inspire a team, drive business results, and develop effective business strategies.
