Sous Chef | Award-Winning Sustainable Café | Mostly Daytime Hours | Cork City

Red D are recruiting a Sous Chef for a very busy, award-winning sustainable food café in Cork City, serving local, seasonal and organic food.

This is a great role for a chef who loves busy service, excellent ingredients and working with a kitchen team that cares about standards, creativity and sustainability.

You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and owners across day-to-day kitchen operations, menu development, catering and events. The business has built a strong reputation for seasonal food, great produce and a genuinely positive kitchen culture.

The role would suit a Sous Chef looking for mostly daytime hours while still working in a fast-paced professional kitchen at a very high standard.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Leading service and maintaining consistency during busy periods
• Contributing to menu development and seasonal planning
• Working across café operations, catering and events
• Training and mentoring junior chefs
• Managing kitchen organisation, prep and systems
• Maintaining HACCP, stock control and waste management standards
• Working closely with local suppliers and producers

• Previous experience in a busy professional kitchen
• Strong service experience and good kitchen leadership skills
• Experience with menu planning, catering and events
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail
• Strong HACCP and kitchen systems knowledge
• Passion for local, seasonal and sustainable food
• A calm, hardworking chef who enjoys being part of a close-knit team
• Someone who enjoys a busy kitchen and takes pride in consistency and standards
