Facilities Manager | Luxury Hotel | Co. Mayo

Salary: €50,000–€55,000 per annum

Red D are recruiting a Facilities Manager for a beautiful luxury hotel in Co. Mayo.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Facilities Manager to take responsibility for the maintenance, engineering and overall upkeep of a recently opened luxury hotel.

We’re looking for someone who takes real pride in their work, enjoys leading a team and understands the importance of maintaining a property to the highest standards.

As Facilities Manager, you’ll play an important role in ensuring that everything behind the scenes runs smoothly, from the hotel’s mechanical and electrical systems to the presentation, safety and ongoing maintenance of the property.

You’ll work closely with the senior management team, taking a proactive approach to maintenance, identifying potential issues before they become problems and ensuring the hotel continues to deliver the exceptional standards expected in a luxury environment.

The Role

As Facilities Manager, you’ll have overall responsibility for the hotel’s maintenance and engineering operations, ensuring the property, equipment and building systems are maintained to the highest standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead, manage and develop the hotel’s maintenance and engineering team, creating a positive, professional and proactive working environment.
• Oversee all planned preventative maintenance programmes across the hotel, ensuring equipment and facilities are maintained effectively.
• Manage the operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety, lifts and building management systems.
• Ensure guest bedrooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities and hotel grounds are maintained to exceptional standards.
• Identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly, minimising disruption to guests and hotel operations.
• Manage external contractors, suppliers and service providers, ensuring quality, value and compliance with agreed standards.
• Oversee maintenance projects, equipment installations and capital improvement works.
• Ensure the hotel meets all relevant health and safety, fire safety, building and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate regular inspections, risk assessments, emergency procedures and statutory compliance requirements.
• Develop and implement energy management and sustainability initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditure and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment servicing, inspections and asset management.
• Work closely with the General Manager and wider leadership team to support the continued development and successful operation of the hotel.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager, Maintenance Manager or Engineering Manager who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent leadership and organisational skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of five years’ experience in facilities management, engineering management or a similar senior maintenance role.
• Previous experience in a luxury hotel, resort or high-quality hospitality environment would be a strong advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, HVAC, building management systems and preventative maintenance.
• A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a maintenance team.
• Experience managing contractors, service agreements and maintenance projects.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, fire safety requirements and statutory compliance.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets, controlling costs and planning capital expenditure.
• An understanding of energy management, sustainability and efficient building operations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across all hotel departments.
