Red D are recruiting an Operations Manager for a growing café group with a number of locations. This Operations Manager role is hands-on, commercially focused and very much about people on the ground, not sitting behind a desk.
As Operations Manager, you’ll take full responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the cafés, working closely with Café Managers to drive standards, consistency and results. This is a role for someone who understands the realities of the café market, knows how to read the numbers and can lead teams without overcomplicating things.
You’ll be trusted to spot issues early, fix what isn’t working and keep the operation moving forward. If you like autonomy but also understand accountability, this will suit you.
The role
Lead, coach and support Café Managers across all seven sites
Set clear expectations around standards, performance and service delivery
Be visible across the cafés, carrying out regular site visits and reviews
Own operational standards across food safety, health & safety, service and presentation
Review and improve SOPs where they actually make sense on the floor
Use customer feedback and insight to improve consistency and experience
Balance a consistent brand experience with room for local personality
Commercial responsibility
Manage key operational metrics including sales, labour, margins and waste
Control costs without damaging service or morale
Drive sales through menu performance, local activity and smart operational decisions
Work with senior leadership on budgets, forecasts and performance reporting
What we’re looking for
Proven experience in a multi-site café, restaurant or hospitality operations role
Strong people leadership with the confidence to have direct conversations
A practical approach to standards and detail
Comfortable using data to inform decisions, not hide behind it
Commercially aware with a clear understanding of what drives profit in cafés
Full driving licence and flexibility to travel between sites
