Red D are recruiting an Engineering Manager for one of Ireland’s leading resort estates. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager, Facilities Manager, Maintenance Manager or Director of Engineering to take responsibility for the technical infrastructure, engineering systems and estate services within a large and evolving hospitality environment.

The Engineering Manager will oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of all mechanical, electrical and building systems across the estate while supporting the smooth operation of a busy resort property.

This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical judgement, operational leadership and a proactive approach to facilities management, asset care and long-term infrastructure planning.

With significant development and investment planned across the estate this year, the Engineering Manager will play an important role in supporting upgrades, improvements and infrastructure projects while ensuring day-to-day engineering operations run reliably.

 

The Role

The Engineering Manager will oversee the performance, maintenance and compliance of all engineering systems and building services across the estate. This includes HVAC systems, CHP, power infrastructure, plant rooms, BMS, water and wastewater systems and associated facilities operations.

This role combines strategic oversight with operational leadership. The Engineering Manager will lead preventative maintenance programmes, manage reactive engineering issues and ensure systems operate reliably while minimising disruption to the guest experience.

The Engineering Manager will also support estate development, refurbishment projects and infrastructure upgrades across the property as new investment projects come on stream.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Engineering & Technical Systems Management

• Full responsibility for the performance and lifecycle management of all mechanical and electrical building systems
• Oversight of HVAC, CHP, power infrastructure, plant rooms, BMS, water and wastewater systems
• Lead diagnostics and technical fault-finding for complex system issues
• Ensure all systems operate safely and efficiently while meeting regulatory and manufacturer standards
• Maintain detailed technical documentation, asset registers and system drawings

Planned & Reactive Maintenance

• Develop and manage comprehensive Planned Preventative Maintenance programmes across the estate
• Balance preventative maintenance with reactive works while protecting business continuity and guest experience
• Lead emergency maintenance response and contingency planning
• Maintain inventory and oversight of critical engineering equipment and spare parts

Compliance, Safety & Environmental Standards

• Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements including fire safety, electrical systems, water, wastewater and environmental regulations
• Act as technical lead for audits, inspections and regulatory engagement
• Maintain and regularly test emergency response and business continuity procedures
• Support sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency programmes

Capital Projects & Estate Development

• Provide technical leadership on estate upgrades, refurbishments and infrastructure projects
• Contribute to design, specification, procurement and contractor selection
• Manage projects through planning, delivery and completion ensuring quality, safety and budget control
• Support long-term asset lifecycle planning across the estate

Financial & Contract Management

• Manage engineering and facilities budgets with strong financial oversight
• Identify cost efficiencies while maintaining system integrity and compliance
• Manage service contracts, external contractors and service level agreements

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead, schedule and develop the facilities and maintenance team
• Promote a strong safety and performance culture within the engineering department
• Work closely with hotel leadership and operational departments across the estate
• Act as the key technical contact for internal stakeholders and external partners

Ideal Candidate

The successful Engineering Manager, Facilities Manager or Maintenance Manager will bring strong mechanical and electrical expertise combined with leadership experience in complex operational environments.

• Degree or recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Trade-qualified candidates with significant mechanical and electrical leadership experience will also be considered
• Experience as an Engineering Manager, Facilities Manager, Maintenance Manager or Director of Engineering within hospitality or large estates
• Strong understanding of HVAC, BMS, power systems, water infrastructure and wastewater management
• Proven experience managing preventative maintenance programmes and engineering teams
• Strong project management experience across refurbishments and infrastructure upgrades
• Experience managing budgets, contractors and service agreements
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise multiple technical and operational demands
