Red D are recruiting a Director of Sales for one of Dublin’s leading five-star hotels.

 

This Director of Sales role is a senior leadership position with real influence across the business. It’s not about activity, and it’s not about chasing numbers for the sake of it. It’s about setting direction, making decisions, and leading a team that delivers.

 

You will sit at the centre of the commercial operation, working closely with senior leadership across revenue, marketing and operations. The expectation is that you understand how the business works as a whole and where the real opportunities sit, not just what’s coming through the pipeline.

 

This is a visible role. You’ll be present, credible and comfortable operating at senior level, both internally and in the market.

The role

As Director of Sales, you are responsible for the overall sales direction of the hotel across corporate, leisure, groups, events and luxury travel.

 

You will:

• Set and deliver a clear sales strategy aligned with the wider business
• Decide where to focus effort and where not to
• Work closely with Revenue and Marketing on pricing, positioning and demand
• Take ownership of key relationships and high-value business
• Represent the hotel at industry level, both locally and internationally
• Ensure the sales function is focused, structured and operating at the right level

• Set standards and make sure they’re met
• Create clarity around what matters and what doesn’t
• Hold people accountable without overcomplicating things

Commercial responsibility

You don’t need to be the loudest salesperson in the room, but you do need to understand the numbers and act on them.

 

You will:

• Own forecasting across rooms, groups and events
• Review performance against budget and make adjustments quickly
• Understand what’s driving performance, not only report on it
• Identify where profit is being made or lost and act accordingly
• Keep systems, contracts and processes tight and consistent

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Director of Sales who has operated at this level and knows what good looks like.

 

You’ll need:

• Senior sales leadership experience within a four or five-star hotel
• A track record of leading teams that deliver, not only function
• Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to make calls
• Presence with clients and credibility with senior stakeholders
• A clear understanding of the Irish and international luxury market
