Red D are recruiting a Managing Director for one of the most exciting hospitality developments currently underway in the North East.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a major hotel project from redevelopment through to opening and long-term success. The development will include luxury accommodation, destination food and beverage outlets, a spa, wellness facilities and a café, creating a significant new hospitality destination.

The successful Managing Director will be involved from the earliest stages, working alongside ownership and key stakeholders to turn the vision into a fully operational business. This role requires a hospitality leader who understands both the strategic and practical realities of opening and operating a complex hotel operation.

This is not a role for someone who wants to inherit a finished business. It will suit a Managing Director who enjoys building teams, creating structure, solving problems and taking responsibility for delivering results.

The Role

As Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for the development, opening and ongoing operation of the property.

You will lead all aspects of the pre-opening process including recruitment, systems implementation, operational planning, budgeting, procurement and brand development. Once operational, you will retain full responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the project from redevelopment through to opening

• Build and develop the senior leadership team

• Create operational structures, systems and service standards

• Take full responsibility for financial performance, budgeting and forecasting

• Oversee procurement, supplier relationships and contract negotiations

• Drive performance across rooms, food and beverage, spa, wellness and leisure operations

• Work closely with stakeholders on project timelines, budgets and strategic objectives

• Ensure a successful launch and long-term commercial performance of the business

The Person

The ideal candidate will already have experience operating at Managing Director or General Manager level within a luxury hotel environment.

They will bring a strong operational background, commercial awareness and experience delivering large-scale projects.

Essential Experience

• Experience as a Managing Director or General Manager within a 4 or 5-star hotel

• Previous pre-opening, redevelopment or major refurbishment experience

• Strong operational knowledge across rooms, food and beverage, spa and wellness operations

• Experience building, leading and developing large teams

• Proven financial management and full P&L responsibility

• Strong systems implementation experience

• Experience developing operational procedures and service standards

• Excellent supplier management and procurement experience

Highly Desirable

• Experience within multi-outlet hospitality businesses

• Resort or destination property experience

• Experience working alongside construction and design teams

• Marketing, commercial or brand development experience

• Knowledge of the hospitality market in Ireland
