Red D Recruitment are recruiting an experienced Head Chef for a busy Irish pub and restaurant in Switzerland.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Head Chef / Senior Sous Chef to take responsibility for the day-to-day kitchen operation, lead a kitchen team and play a key role within the wider management structure.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and management team, the Head Chef will be responsible for maintaining high standards across food quality, preparation, presentation, service, food safety and kitchen performance, while also contributing to menu development and the continued success of the restaurant.
The Role
The Head Chef will take ownership of the kitchen operation, ensuring a well-organised, efficient and consistently high-performing kitchen.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, managing and developing the kitchen team.
- Maintaining consistently high standards throughout busy services.
- Menu planning, development and implementation.
- Food costing, portion control, stock management and ordering.
- Working with fresh, quality ingredients to produce high-quality food.
- Training and supporting junior chefs and developing their skills.
- Maintaining excellent HACCP, food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards.
- Working closely with the Operations Manager on day-to-day operations and service standards.
- Collaborating with the management team on staffing, cost control, menu development and overall business performance.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and contributing ideas to the continued development of the restaurant.
- Ensuring the kitchen is organised, efficient and prepared for service.
- Supporting a positive team culture through clear communication and strong leadership.
The Person
The successful candidate will have:
- 3 years’ experience as a Head Chef in a busy, high-volume restaurant, pub or gastro-pub.
- Strong experience in menu planning and development.
- Excellent knowledge of food costing, portion control, stock management and ordering.
- A genuine passion for producing quality food using fresh ingredients.
- Strong kitchen leadership and team management skills.
- Experience training, mentoring and developing junior chefs.
- The ability to maintain standards and lead effectively during busy services.
- Excellent knowledge of HACCP, food safety, hygiene and health & safety.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A positive, hands-on approach to leadership.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ideally, experience within an Irish pub, gastro-pub or casual dining environment.
- EU Passport or legal entitlement to live & work in Switzerland.
- A willingness to relocate to Switzerland.
