Red D are recruiting a brilliant General Manager to take the lead of an exciting new Gastro Pub and Restaurant in Co. Roscommon following a major refurbishment and significant investment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a real hospitality person.

The investment has been made. The venue has been completely transformed. Now it needs the right General Manager to bring it to life.

We’re looking for someone with personality, energy and commercial sense. A natural people person who can build a great team, create a brilliant atmosphere and become the face of the business.

Someone who’s ready to take real ownership of the operation.

You’ll have the freedom to shape the operation, build the culture and work closely with ownership to establish this as one of the best places to eat, drink and socialise in the area.

This Is Your Business to Run

The General Manager will take ownership of the entire operation.

You’ll recruit and build your team, set the standards, create the culture and make sure the personality of the business comes through in everything from the welcome at the door to the food, bar and overall atmosphere.

This is a hands-on leadership role.

We want a General Manager who knows their team, knows their customers and understands what’s happening across the business.

Someone who’s as comfortable chatting to guests and motivating the team as they are looking at the P&L.

What You’ll Own

• The complete day-to-day operation of the Gastro Pub and Restaurant
• Recruiting, building and developing a fantastic team
• Creating a positive culture where good people want to stay
• Delivering a warm, relaxed and genuinely welcoming guest experience
• Leading from the floor and being highly visible during service
• Working closely with the Head Chef to create a strong food and service operation
• Driving the bar business and developing a strong drinks offering
• Full P&L responsibility
• Revenue, GP, labour, stock and cost control
• Rosters, payroll and productivity
• Supplier relationships and purchasing
• Events, groups, parties and local business
• Building relationships within the local community
• Developing repeat business and a strong base of regular customers
• Maintaining excellent operational, food safety, licensing and health and safety standards

The Person

This is where the appointment will be won.

We’re looking for a people person first and foremost.

You’ll be warm, confident and naturally good with people. You’ll know how to get the best from a team without managing every detail for them.

You’ll notice when someone is doing a great job. You’ll deal with problems quickly. You’ll create standards people understand and you’ll build the sort of culture that attracts and keeps good hospitality people.

You’ll also be commercially sharp.

You’ll understand the numbers, know where the business is making money and where it isn’t and take responsibility for performance.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• General Manager, Bar General Manager, Restaurant General Manager or senior hospitality management experience
• A strong background in quality food-led pubs, Gastro Pubs, restaurants or busy hospitality operations
• Excellent people leadership skills
• Strong food and beverage knowledge
• A good understanding of P&L, GP, labour and cost control
• Experience recruiting and developing teams
• Strong local marketing and business development instincts
• Confidence working closely with ownership
• The personality and presence to become the face of the business

Pre-opening or new-opening experience would be useful, but we’re far more interested in finding the right operator and leader.
